Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using appropriate techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to support health assessments.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and document all medication activities within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, implementing memory care strategies and behavior management techniques to promote safety and well-being.
- Support residents with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and maintaining a clean and safe environment through light cleaning duties.
- Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to foster social interaction and emotional health.
- Follow all safety protocols including first aid procedures and emergency response plans to ensure a secure environment for residents and staff alike.
Skills
- Proven experience in long-term care settings such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or personal care homes.
- Strong knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care strategies, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities.
- Ability to operate EMR systems efficiently for documentation purposes.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Capable of performing physical tasks including lifting with Hoyer lifts and assisting with mobility needs safely.
- Valid driver’s license preferred for community outings or transportation needs; driving experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability in behavior management, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and home & community care practices.
