Duties

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using appropriate techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
  • Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to support health assessments.
  • Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and document all medication activities within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, implementing memory care strategies and behavior management techniques to promote safety and well-being.
  • Support residents with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and maintaining a clean and safe environment through light cleaning duties.
  • Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to foster social interaction and emotional health.
  • Follow all safety protocols including first aid procedures and emergency response plans to ensure a secure environment for residents and staff alike.

Skills

  • Proven experience in long-term care settings such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or personal care homes.
  • Strong knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care strategies, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities.
  • Ability to operate EMR systems efficiently for documentation purposes.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Capable of performing physical tasks including lifting with Hoyer lifts and assisting with mobility needs safely.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred for community outings or transportation needs; driving experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability in behavior management, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and home & community care practices.
